AMAX-4270 provides a 32-bit 4-channel counter/encoder for incremental encoders, supporting CW/CCW, Pulse/Direction and A/B mode. The trigger output supports sink, source and TTL type with 10kHz frequency, providing trigger delay time function for each trigger output channel and 1D, 2D position compare
In the EtherCAT architecture, due to the limitation of the communication cycle time, for example, if the EtherCAT cycle time is set to 500us, the fastest time to update the I/O status is 500us, which is not enough for high-speed and high-precision control.
Now, Advantech has launched the AMAX-4270 trigger and latch EtherCAT SubDevice to resolve the issue caused by EtherCAT cycle time limitations.
By using the AMAX-4270, precise I/O control can be achieved. It has a dedicated processor and FIFO allowing the compare and latch data to be stored in the buffer. The whole I/O processing step is done on the AMAX-4270 to resolve the cycle time limitations. AMAX-4270 includes a 4-channel encoder and a 4-channel trigger, which can realize 1D and 2D compare triggers, and supports NPN, PNP and TTL output. It also provides a trigger delay time feature, so that triggers can be set in sequence. Moreover, there is also a 4-channel latch for customers to get encoder data instantly. It can be used for AOI, dispensing, measurement, and laser equipment with its high-speed and high-precision I/O control.
